JACKSONVILLE, Fla. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) is actively investigating a fatal shooting that occurred on the afternoon of Wednesday, June 11, 2025, in the parking lot of Copeland’s of New Orleans, located at 4310 Southside Boulevard. The victim has been identified as Kenny Mob, who was found with a gunshot wound to the chest. Despite being transported to a nearby hospital, Mob succumbed to his injuries.
According to JSO, Mob had arrived at the location to meet an individual; however, the nature of the meeting remains unclear. The incident prompted a significant police response around 2:30 p.m., with officers, a JSO helicopter, drone, and K-9 units present at the scene. A perimeter was established around the restaurant’s parking lot as investigators processed the area.
JSO is seeking information regarding a black or dark-colored four-door vehicle, possibly a Nissan, that was observed at the scene. Three individuals were detained for questioning; however, it is currently unknown if any of them were involved in the shooting or their relationship to the victim.
Witnesses, including Yana Royter, a worker at a nearby coffee shop, described the situation as chaotic. Royter recounted that two of her coworkers ran back inside upon hearing gunshots, and she locked the back door for safety. She expressed relief at the swift police response, stating, “I’m really glad that they responded so quickly and ran back inside.”
