Four Arrested in Wylie, Texas, After Death of 11-Year-Old Boy Showing Signs of Abuse

Wylie, Texas — Authorities have arrested four individuals in connection with the death of an 11-year-old boy in Wylie earlier this week. The suspects face charges of injury to a child and abandoning and endangering a child.

On Monday evening, paramedics responded to a home in the 1600 block of Long Meadow Road after receiving a call about an unresponsive child. Upon arrival, emergency responders found signs of physical abuse on the young boy. Despite efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at a local hospital.

SUPPORT THE FAMILY, GOD BLESS YOU

Following an investigation, Wylie police obtained arrest warrants for four family members:

Sadie Hope, 28
Clifford Johnson, 67
Eunice Johnson-Lightsey, 46
Sade Hope-Johnson York, 30

The suspects include the boy’s grandfather, aunt, and two cousins. All four have been charged with injury to a child and abandoning and endangering a child.

In a statement, Sgt. Donald English of the Wylie Police Department expressed the gravity of the situation:

“The stories the families were giving us were inconsistent. There were physical injuries on the young man, so that combination led us to dig deeper,” said Sgt. English. “To see a young man lose his life from a family member, that’s disgusting. There were other kids in the house that possibly witnessed something and are stuck with this for the rest of their life.”

Other children residing in the home have been removed and are receiving appropriate care. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities are urging anyone with information to come forward.
